The Roof is On!

The roof is installed on our house!

House Wrapping...

Now the framing is officially finished and our house has been wrapped. You can see that the workers have already stacked the shingles on the top of the house, so the roof should be going on soon!

Finishing the Roof!

The workers are finishing up the boards on the roof. Following are photos of the house, beginning with the front left corner of the house and slowly circling around the right side of the house to the back.

The Framing is Almost Finished...

The front porch is now covered and the roof braces are going in. All of the actual framing is finished so the house is really taking shape and looking like the home we designed:

The Second Floor...

The 1st floor is now almost complete and work on the 2nd floor has begun! Here are Caden and Monique in front of the house:

More Walls...

Almost the entire first floor in now framed. Here is Caden in front of the house on a very rainy day.

The walls go up!

The "house" portion of the build finally begins and we have a wall and some floor!

Our first wall! This will be the outer wall on the right side of the house (when looking at the house) and will be the outside wall to Bobby's finished, lower level entertainment room:

... and a little floor! Most of the main level sub-floor is down. I was standing in the garage when I took this photo. This will be the floor in the entry-way, office, dining room, half bath, great room and kitchen. Below the floor you can see our basement:

We have a basement and foundation!

After the workers started on the cement block basement and foundation, it was finished within 2 days. We can really see the house taking shape now and see where it will sit on the lot, the size of the house, etc. It's also really fun to see the house behind us go up!

The cement blocks have arrived

Aside from a little gravel spread around the hole, no actual work has been done. However, each day more and more giant piles of cement blocks are being delivered.

The "Footers" are laid down...

The cement "footers" have been poured for our house. The cement blocks for our our basement and actual house will be built on top of these.

Breaking Ground...

We no longer have just "dirt" and we now have a "hole"! The lot broke ground on Thursday, August 4th and our basement is now dug. The next step is working on the foundation and basement block.
